Everything in this book returns to one sentence.

The center of the whole teaching rests on the utterance, inwardly and outwardly, of the Inner Prayer. He held its purifying action to be the Alpha and the Omega of every act a Christian makes.

There is no advanced version. The man who could describe mid-consciousness with a stone in his palm gave the same five words to a beginner and to me, twenty years in.

Everything else, he held, waits until you have understood it. The prayer never did. He would refuse its use to no one, in any circumstances.
